» Introducing Katie

From a child Katie has always been headstrong and determined. Participating in sport from an early age gave her the discipline and motivation to do well. Having to allocate time to finish homework before training and spending weekends at competition meets kept her grounded and forced her to remain focused and to prioritise her workload.

From an early age Katie knew that she wanted to be a Physiotherapist and worked hard through her school years. Attending a comprehensive school for her GCSEs and College for her A-levels meant that she had to be very self disciplined to achieve the high grades necessary to apply for a Physiotherapy degree. Her personal statement on the UCAS form helped Katie to be offered a place at Hertfordshire University. It showed a loyal and dedicated personality with a 12 year service in the St John Ambulance, where Katie worked up to cadet leader by the age of 18 being among the first in the country to achieve the 'super badger' badge at the age of 10. Representing the county in both running and swimming showed further commitment.

Katie graduated from University and began work immediately at Darent Valley Acute Trust; here Katie worked at Gravesend outpatient department where she worked to develop exercise classes for a range of conditions. Later, seeking greater challenge, Katie changed hospital trust and trained in Modified Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute.

After completion of this course Katie began private Pilates classes, frustrated with the restriction in the number of sessions patients could attend in the NHS classes. Due to an obvious gap in the market and as a reflection of Katie's energy, Physiotherapy knowledge and empathy with her clients, these classes rapidly grew in popularity and soon the classes developed into a small business. The growth from here is history, the transition to KTB Prescribed Pilates & Physiotherapy Limited and the foundation of Prescribed Pilates. Katie completed her first published title Prescribed Pilates for Pain Management in 2007 and is currently working on the accompanying DVD and her second title. She sees three hundred clients per week herself from the KTB studios and gives each the same caring, dedicated thought to devising a personalised most effective management programme to suit their needs. Her edge is the relaxed, fun, yet professional manner in which she runs her classes and approaches her clients.
